Q: What materials do I need to complete my VMCAS application?

A: You must have the following to complete your VMCAS application:

  • A submitted VMCAS Web application
  • Fee payment. Your fee amount will correspond to the number of schools you’ve selected. VMCAS requires a credit card payment
  • If there are extenuating circumstances as to why you cannot pay using a credit card you must contact VMCAS (617-612-2884).
  • A minimum of three (3) completed electronic VMCAS evaluations. Also due October 2nd, 2014 at 1:00pm Eastern Time. You can submit a maximum of six electronic evaluations.
  • Transcripts. You must send an official transcript from each post secondary college you’ve attended to VMCAS.
  • Standardized test scores. Scores from any necessary standardized test must be delivered to the colleges before their deadlines. DO NOT send test scores to VMCAS.

Q: Can I make changes to my application once it has been submitted?

A: Once you e-submit your application, your VMCAS application is locked and you may NOT make changes to it for the rest of the application cycle. The only sections you may change after submitting are: your contact information, your password and security information, references which have a status of “new” or “in-progress”, and you may ADD additional school designations. All other sections will be read-only. Make sure you check over your application information closely before E-Submitting to avoid any errors as these cannot be corrected later.

Q: Can I pay before I deliver my application?

A: No. You will pay during the E-Submission process with a credit card.

Q: After I submit my application materials, when will they be sent to the designated colleges?

A: Your application is preliminarily available to your designated school as soon as you submit your application. Once your application has been verified, your fully verified application is immediately available to your designations. Verification can take up to 4 weeks from the date your application is “Meeting VMCAS Requirements.”  In order for your application to be considered meeting VMCAS requirements, all required sections of the VMCAS application must be complete, your application must be E-Submitted and your application fee has been paid, at least one of the minimum three evaluations must be “Complete”, and all US and English-speaking Canadian transcripts have been received at VMCAS.

Q: How can I make my application process efficient

  • Submit your application early!
  • Read all instructions in the application.
  • Verify that you have submitted all materials before the deadline.
  • Make sure that your supplemental applications and test scores are sent to the colleges and not to VMCAS.
  • Read the schools’ descriptor pages and our Helpful Hints section.
  • Keep in close contact with your evaluators; confirm that your evaluations have been submitted on time.

Q: Do I need to submit a Fall 2014 transcript?

A: YES. If you are enrolled in courses (electives or prerequisites) for the Fall 2014 term, you must arrange to have copies of your official Fall 2014 transcript sent to VMCAS. Fall 2014 transcripts must be received at VMCAS by February 1, 2015.

Q: How do I submit a transcript for the Fall 2014 term?

A: If you are attending a school for the Fall 2014 term, make sure to list the school in the institutions attended and coursework sections of the application. This alerts the VMCAS college(s) that you are attending this institution during the Fall 2014 term and that they should expect to receive a transcript of these courses following the completion of the term. You are strongly encouraged to use the VMCAS Transcript Request Form to request transcripts.

Q: Should I wait to send my transcript to my selected VMCAS college(s) until after the Fall 2014 term if I attended that same college in the past?

A: NO. If you attended a college in the past and are also taking courses this fall at the same institution, you must order a copy of the transcript before the deadline and once again when you complete the fall courses.

Q: What if I can’t retrieve all of my application materials by the deadline date?

A: Applicants are responsible for obtaining all application materials in time to submit them by the earliest deadline of their selected colleges; this includes transcripts, test scores, fees, and evaluation forms. The application deadline date is critical for VMCAS and the VMCAS colleges. If you submit your application materials after the deadline, you will very likely jeopardize your eligibility for admissions consideration.
To find out if submitting transcripts or evaluation forms after the deadline will affect your admissions eligibility, check with each college to which you are applying.
